Chopicalqui’s southwest ridge offers a moderate climb with just enough exposure to keep climber’s adrenaline levels up, without crossing the line of “technical” and thereby scaring novice mountaineers away.

The climb offers spectacular views of neighboring summits Huandoy, Chacraraju, Pisco and Huascaran, and most of the range is visible from the summit.

Day 2: Base camp – Moraine camp 4900m.

Day 3: Moraine camp – Camp I 5300m.

Day 4: Camp I – Chopicalqui summit 6354m - Moraine camp

Day 5: Moraine camp - Base camp - Huaraz
